With various challenges facing our young people, it was felt that traditional youth council’s were not being relevant to the holistic growth of our young people.
So it came to the point were we needed to RE-DEFINE what Youth Councils was all about. We believe that the Y’Connexion format is a weekend of challenge, fun, relevant teaching, and authentic worship.
A decision was made to change the name to Y’Connexions, with a message for young people to meet and make a connexion in three phases, a connexion with their friends, a connexion with God, and a connexion with the local church in this case the Salvation Army.
The Youth Desk is tasked with coordinating Territorial youth events such as the Congress and Roots Youth Events. A group of young people are often called up to form a team that helps in the planning and implementation of these events. |
Every year the Youth department hosts a Youth and Children’s Leaders and Divisional Youth Officers Conference. The Conference continues to allow the leaders to share difficulties, resources and training possibilities. This conference has had top leaders come to address it and lots of positive results have come out of it. |

It is no secret that a lot of our young people at corps level have very little or no discipleship training. In the last few years we have been in the process of sending out material to help youth leaders in their development of this area of ministry. |
